Last week, the Prime Minister held a national conference on administrative procedure reforms and state governance modernisation in the interests of the people and enterprises. Amongst other points, the Prime Minister highlighted the important role digitalisation played in creating a favorable, more user-friendly business environment. Here are some of the key takeaways from the conference:

1. It is essential to have a central database throughout the entire digitalisation process from the planning stage to the execution stage to facilitate research, compliance and execution.

2. However, digitalisation will not reach its full potential if the people behind it are not motivated.

3. As digitalisation boosts productivity and reduces the amount of labour needed, to help with public sector employee motivation, the government should use the money saved from downsizing to give the remaining employees salary increases.

The conference was joined by leaders of both central and local authorities as well as various business associations.
